Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing will embark on a five-day official visit to India starting from Bodh Gaya, Bihar, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Scheduled to meet PM Modi on June 1, the visit aims to enhance bilateral ties between the two nations. This visit marks President U Min Aung Hlaing’s first official trip to India since assuming office.
President U Min Aung Hlaing will engage in discussions with PM Modi on strengthening bilateral relations during his stay. Additionally, he will participate in a business forum in India, accompanied by a delegation comprising cabinet ministers, senior officials, and business leaders. The visit will also include a trip to Mumbai for business interactions and site visits on June 2.
“Myanmar lies at the confluence of India’s Neighborhood First, Act East, and MAHASAGAR policies. The official visit of President U Min Aung Hlaing to India is expected to further enhance the multifaceted relations between the two countries,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The visit underscores the commitment to deepening ties between India and Myanmar.
Vietnamese President To Lam recently commenced his India visit from Bodh Gaya, mirroring the significance of the location in Buddhist history. In a gesture of goodwill, he visited the Mahabodhi Temple during his visit.
