Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in Geneva, Switzerland, for technical discussions regarding Tehran’s nuclear issue. The meeting took place before indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States scheduled for the following day. The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that during the meeting, both sides discussed technical issues related to Iran-IAEA cooperation within the framework of Tehran’s safeguards obligations and in light of a law passed by the Iranian parliament last year to suspend bilateral collaborations.
Grossi mentioned in a social media post that the discussions were comprehensive and technical, emphasizing their importance in preparation for the upcoming negotiations. Araghchi, accompanied by Iranian nuclear experts, expressed his commitment to achieving a fair deal during his visit to Geneva. He highlighted the intention to engage in deep technical discussions with Grossi and also mentioned a meeting with the Omani Foreign Minister before the indirect talks with the United States.
The Iranian and US delegations, led by Araghchi and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, previously conducted talks in Oman’s Muscat. Witkoff is set to lead the US delegation in Geneva for the next round of discussions, as reported by US media sources.
