Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced that it targeted an Israeli F-16 Fighting Falcon in central airspace. The IRGC’s Aerospace Division air defense systems reportedly hit the aircraft at 3:45 a.m. local time. The IRGC stated that it has intercepted over 200 hostile aerial targets, including drones and fighter jets, since the conflict with the US and Israel began.
The Israel Defense Forces conducted extensive strikes in Tehran, focusing on IRGC facilities producing key components for ballistic missiles. These strikes significantly impacted Iran’s ability to manufacture essential missile parts. In previous joint attacks by Israel and the US on Tehran and other Iranian cities, Iran’s Supreme Leader and military officials were killed.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, emphasized Iran’s pursuit of a comprehensive and enduring resolution to the conflict. Araghchi condemned the US-Israeli strikes as illegal aggression and urged global opposition to such actions. Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, Iran demands guarantees against future attacks and compensation for damages incurred during the conflict.
Araghchi warned the UK against escalating involvement in the conflict, stating that Iran would retaliate if British participation increased. Tensions rose following reports of US forces accessing British military bases. The UK government cautioned Iran against targeting its bases, emphasizing the risk of further escalation.
