The navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning to ships near the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the waterway was closed and any vessel movement would face decisive action. A recorded message advised all vessels in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman to avoid the strait for safety reasons.

US President Donald Trump mentioned a peace deal with Iran set to be signed, with the expectation that the Strait of Hormuz would reopen promptly. Additionally, the US military reported shooting down Iranian drones targeting commercial ships in the strait.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime passage for global oil and gas shipments, has witnessed reduced traffic due to rising tensions and attacks on commercial vessels. Recent data from the International Maritime Organization revealed numerous incidents in the region, leading to seafarer fatalities.

The IMO strongly denounced an attack on a tanker resulting in seafarer deaths, with the US military confirming its involvement in the strike.
