Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, criticized the United States for violating a peace memorandum signed with Iran, stating that this action once again highlighted the unreliability of President Donald Trump’s signature. Khamenei emphasized the frequent breaches of the memorandum by the US, signed by Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Trump on June 18, as evidence of the US president’s untrustworthiness.
He condemned the US for revealing its “true and unmasked face” through these actions, citing the violation as proof of America’s dishonesty and untrustworthiness. Khamenei cautioned that if the US continued its warmongering behavior and imposed heavier costs, Iran and the resistance front would deliver “unforgettable lessons” to the United States.
Despite the memorandum’s existence, regional tensions have escalated, with the US conducting multiple strikes against Iran while Iran retaliated with attacks on US bases and facilities. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that Iran had stopped fulfilling its obligations under the memorandum due to the US’s failure to uphold its commitments, emphasizing the focus on defending the country rather than engaging in negotiations.
