Former cricketer Irfan Pathan has highlighted the importance of teenage batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi being prepared for the tactical challenges posed by opposition bowlers. Pathan emphasized the need for Sooryavanshi to maintain his fearless approach while also adapting to the strategies devised by bowlers against him. Despite Sooryavanshi’s eye-catching start in international cricket, Pathan stressed the significance of being ready for the plans opponents will employ.
Sooryavanshi, aged 15, showcased his talent by scoring 14 runs off 10 balls in the second T20I before being dismissed by spin. Pathan commended the youngster’s aggressive intent and encouraged him to continue playing his natural attacking game. Pathan expressed his admiration for Sooryavanshi’s courage at such a young age, noting that the teenager’s presence in international cricket is inspiring a new generation of aspiring cricketers.
Reflecting on India’s loss in the second T20I against England, Pathan believed that India fell short by at least 20 runs from their potential total. Despite a strong start with the bat, India failed to capitalize on their position, allowing England to take control during the chase. Pathan pointed out the need for India to show more discipline in their bowling, especially in the death overs, to avoid similar outcomes in future matches.
India will aim to level the series in the upcoming third T20I against England scheduled for Tuesday.
