Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has selected the playing 12 for Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming IPL season starting on March 28. Lucknow Super Giants, who finished seventh last season, strengthened their bowling by adding players like Mohammad Shami and Arjun Tendulkar.
Pathan suggested maintaining the opening pair of Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh for Lucknow Super Giants, despite rumors of Rishabh Pant opening. He recommended Pant for the number 3 position to assess the pitch and stabilize the innings if needed. Nicholas Pooran was placed at number 4, with concerns raised about his recent form.
Pathan’s playing XI includes Markram, Marsh, Pant, Pooran, and a lower batting lineup of Indian players. He emphasized the importance of overseas openers and suggested providing seaming wickets for them at home matches. Pathan also highlighted the potential impact players in the squad, including Mayank Yadav and Anrich Nortje.
