Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has hinted that the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season might see the last appearance of the legendary MS Dhoni in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey. Pathan emphasized Dhoni’s significance to CSK, stating that it would be hard to envision the team and the IPL without the iconic wicketkeeper-batter. He mentioned that Dhoni’s presence would be crucial in uniting the team, even though his exact playing time remains uncertain.
Pathan also mentioned that CSK’s management is expected to manage Dhoni’s workload carefully during the season and aim to bid him a fitting farewell by clinching their sixth IPL title. He highlighted that questions regarding Dhoni’s fitness, batting position, and match appearances are likely to arise, but the team management will handle these aspects step by step to ensure a proper send-off for the stalwart.
MS Dhoni, a key figure in the CSK squad and a significant part of the leadership group, has led the team to five IPL titles in the past. Despite a disappointing performance in the previous season where CSK finished at the bottom of the points table with only four wins out of fourteen matches, Dhoni remains one of the top batters in IPL history. With an impressive record of 5,439 runs in 278 matches and 242 innings at an average of 38.80, a strike rate of 137.45, and 24 fifties, Dhoni’s contribution to CSK’s success over the years has been remarkable.
