The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has removed Radharaman Das from all positions within the religious organization. Das, who served as the Vice-President of ISKCON Kolkata, disclosed this decision on a social media platform. He mentioned that ISKCON instructed him not to represent or speak on behalf of the organization in any media interactions.
The removal of Radharaman Das was attributed to various actions, including speaking publicly about the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh and supporting ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu in Dhaka jail. Das also cited instances like sending a legal notice to Maneka Gandhi and appearing in a Republic TV interview as reasons for his removal.
Despite the consequences, Radharaman Das expressed his acceptance of the authority’s decisions and pledged to comply with the directives. He emphasized that he would refrain from engaging with the media or making further public statements on behalf of ISKCON.
The former ISKCON Kolkata Vice-President’s removal comes amidst controversies surrounding the organization’s involvement in providing mid-day meals in schools within the Kolkata Municipal Corporation limits. Social media buzzed with claims that eggs would be excluded from the meals, prompting a clarification from ISKCON. Das issued statements cautioning against misinformation and clarified that the proposed menu circulating on social media was misleading.
In a separate social media post, Radharaman Das advocated for vegetable items with high protein content and highlighted the protein intake of vegetarians compared to non-vegetarians. However, following this post, he was relieved of all duties at ISKCON Kolkata.
