The death toll from the recent Islamabad suicide bombing has climbed to 36, with 149 individuals injured and 28 bodies recovered at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). Nine of the injured are in critical condition, as confirmed by Dr. Aneeza Jalil from PIMS.

Furthermore, HBS Hospital reported three deaths from the attack. The suspected attacker, identified as Yasir Khan Yasir, hailing from Peshawar and with alleged militant training in Afghanistan, has been linked to the incident. Investigators are exploring potential ties to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).

Authorities are delving into the attacker’s background, revealing his training in Afghanistan’s Kunar province and multiple border crossings. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry confirmed the bomber’s identity through forensic analysis, emphasizing the ongoing investigation into the broader network behind the attack.

Eyewitnesses described hearing gunfire before the explosion at the Khadija Tul Kubra mosque during Friday prayers. The incident has sparked emergency responses across Islamabad, with victims rushed to hospitals in critical condition. Pakistan has condemned the attack, attributing it to external forces while acknowledging the persistent threat of domestic terrorism.
