Israel confirmed the death of Hamas military commander Mohammed Odeh in a targeted strike in Gaza City. The operation, described as a significant blow to the militant group’s military structure, was carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet after months of surveillance.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz praised the operation, stating that Odeh, the fourth commander of Hamas’ military wing in Gaza, was eliminated. Odeh had recently taken charge as head of Hamas’s military wing following the killing of another commander earlier.
Reports from Gaza indicated that Odeh, along with his wife and sons, was killed in the strike. Katz commended the Israeli military and intelligence agencies for their execution, emphasizing the commitment to eliminate those responsible for past attacks.
The IDF and Shin Bet confirmed targeting buildings used by Odeh and his associates in Gaza City. Israeli security agencies alleged that Odeh played a significant role in planning and executing attacks against Israeli troops, representing a blow to Hamas’ military reorganization efforts.
