Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, emphasized the importance of not succumbing to terrorism while commemorating the upcoming 50th anniversary of ‘Operation Entebbe’, the Israeli anti-terror operation in Uganda. Azar highlighted the ongoing global efforts to manipulate international norms for malicious political gains and stressed the collective resolve of India, Israel, and the international community to combat terrorism.
Azar reflected on Israel’s enduring battle against terrorism, citing a significant terrorist incident that triggered a comprehensive campaign to prevent future attacks. He credited the success of ‘Operation Entebbe’ for inspiring the world and demonstrating that terrorism can be overcome. The Ambassador underscored the continued strengthening of ties between India and Israel, with a focus on implementing various agreements signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit.
During a recent visit to India by retired Major General Amir Baram, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defence, crucial initiatives aimed at enhancing mutual defense capabilities were advanced. Azar expressed confidence in the collaborative efforts between the two nations, emphasizing the mutual benefits that such partnerships bring to both Indian and Israeli citizens. The Israeli Ambassador also participated in the commemorative event marking the 50th anniversary of the Entebbe Operation in New Delhi.
