Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz cautioned that if Lebanon does not fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire agreement, the Israeli military will take additional military measures. Katz expressed that the primary objective in Lebanon is to disarm Hezbollah and eliminate threats to Israel’s northern regions through a blend of military and political strategies. The Israel Defence Force (IDF) reported that terrorists breached ceasefire terms by encroaching on the Forward Defence Area, endangering IDF soldiers in separate incidents near Bint Jbeil and Litani. In response, the IDF neutralized the threats by targeting and eliminating the terrorists.
Several Hezbollah members were observed near the Litani River, as per The Times of Israel. The Israel Air Force (IAF) promptly eliminated a terrorist after identifying the operatives. Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun clarified that negotiations to end hostilities do not signify surrender but are a path to conflict resolution. Aoun stressed the importance of negotiations as a means to address issues without conceding, urging war-weary Lebanese to support their state. He highlighted the commitment to safeguarding rights, focusing on ceasing attacks, Israeli withdrawal, and detainee repatriation as the foundation for peace efforts after years of strife.
Aoun also underscored ongoing collaboration with international entities and humanitarian groups to enhance aid for affected populations in southern Lebanon. He emphasized the necessity of coordination among the Lebanese army, security forces, municipalities, and residents to uphold stability in the region.
