The Israeli army chief, Eyal Zamir, stated that the Israeli military is prepared to restart combat operations against Iran. This declaration was made during a situational assessment at the military’s Northern Command. Zamir emphasized the readiness to engage in intense combat operations promptly to further weaken Iran’s capabilities.
Amid progress in US-Iran talks, the United States and Iran are working on extending a ceasefire and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. However, disagreements persist regarding Tehran’s nuclear program. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet was set to meet in response to these developments.
Additionally, Zamir mentioned that Israeli forces are actively targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon. Despite a ceasefire announced in April between Israel and Lebanon, Israeli forces remain in southern Lebanon, conducting daily strikes on Hezbollah sites and fighters.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu highlighted his agreement with US President Donald Trump on the necessity of eliminating the nuclear threat posed by Iran. Stressing the importance of dismantling Iran’s nuclear enrichment sites and removing enriched nuclear material from Iran’s territory, Netanyahu expressed gratitude for President Trump’s commitment to Israel’s security.
