Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for US President Donald Trump’s attempts to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran. Netanyahu mentioned that Israel could gradually decrease its reliance on US military aid as it enhances its defense capabilities.
In an interview with NBC News, Netanyahu highlighted Trump’s willingness to explore diplomatic solutions, especially regarding Iran’s nuclear program. However, he emphasized that Trump was prepared to use military force if Iran violated its commitments.
Trump, in a separate interview, claimed that Iran had agreed to a favorable deal before launching a drone at a ship. He stated that Iran reneged on the agreement shortly after reaching it.
Netanyahu acknowledged the importance of Israel’s military partnership with the US in countering threats from Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. He expressed gratitude for the joint efforts that prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Regarding US military assistance, Netanyahu indicated that Israel had reached a stage where it could consider reducing reliance on such aid. He mentioned ongoing discussions and agreements on military support between the two countries.
