Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, expressed his approval of the India-US trade deal, calling it a significant development that enhances opportunities for economic collaboration. Azar highlighted Israel’s strong engagement with the American market, receiving a substantial portion of foreign investments from the United States and serving as a major innovation center globally. The trade agreement between India and Israel, marked by the signing of terms of reference, aims to facilitate negotiations for a comprehensive free trade pact, fostering trade, investment, and cooperation in various sectors such as technology, defense, and agriculture.
India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Israel’s Economy Minister Nir Barkat formalized the terms of reference in Tel Aviv in November 2025, initiating discussions for the trade agreement. Both nations are set to engage in further talks to advance the agreement, paving the way for enhanced collaboration among Israeli, Indian, and US companies. Additionally, India and Israel recently inked a joint ministerial declaration of intent to bolster bilateral cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture, recognizing Israel’s expertise in the field and India’s abundant aquatic resources.
During a visit to Israel for the second global summit on “Blue Food Security: Sea the Future 2026,” a high-level Indian delegation, led by Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, signed the agreement. The declaration outlines a comprehensive framework for cooperation, focusing on joint research and development in advanced aquaculture technologies, breeding high-yield species, and establishing India-Israel Centres of Excellence for Fisheries and Aquaculture. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen ties across various areas of mutual interest.
