Italy’s Defence Minister Guido Crosetto’s visit to India this week highlights the commitment of both nations to enhance their current collaboration and explore new partnership opportunities, particularly in the industrial sector, as stated by Italy’s Ministry of Defence. Crosetto is scheduled to meet with his Indian counterpart, Shri Rajnath Singh, to discuss various aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries, along with exchanging perspectives on regional and global issues in light of the changing security environment.
The Ministry of Defence of Italy emphasized that the defense ties between Italy and India have seen significant progress since Rajnath Singh’s visit to Rome in October 2023. The visit by Minister Crosetto underscores the shared determination of both countries to strengthen their existing cooperation and delve into fresh avenues of collaboration, especially within the industrial partnership framework.
Both ministers are expected to engage in discussions on regional and global matters during their meeting, considering the evolving security landscape, in addition to addressing a wide range of topics related to defense cooperation between India and Italy. The signing of the India-EU Defence and Strategic Partnership in January 2026 has further boosted defense industrial cooperation between the two nations in key areas of mutual interest.
