Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) President K.M. Kader Mohideen emphasized the importance of supporting government formation in Tamil Nadu to uphold democratic traditions. He mentioned that parties in alliance with the DMK were approached by the Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Despite expectations of the DMK-led alliance securing a majority, the electorate favored TVK with a significant win.
Mohideen clarified that extending support for government formation is crucial to prevent potential issues like President’s rule, confusion, and unrest in Tamil Nadu. He stressed that every political party has a responsibility to support the formation of the government, not just the party in power. Additionally, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has also pledged its support to TVK without any conditions or ministerial participation.
With IUML and VCK backing TVK, the party has reportedly garnered support from 120 legislators, paving the way for Vijay to approach Governor Rajendra Arlekar to stake a claim to form the government.
