Veteran actor Jackie Shroff honored the late legendary actress Nutan on her 35th death anniversary by sharing a video montage on his Instagram stories. Remembering Nutan ji, he posted a clip of the song “Woh Chand Khila Woh Tare” from the 1959 film “Anari” featuring Nutan and Raj Kapoor. The film, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, was a comedy that also starred Motilal and Lalita Pawar in significant roles.
Jackie’s tribute highlighted Nutan’s naturalistic acting portraying conflicted women in various genres of films over her four-decade-long career. Nutan, who began her acting journey at 14, appeared in over 80 films, winning awards for her exceptional performances in movies like Sujata, Bandini, Milan, and Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki. Her filmography includes notable works such as Anari, Chhalia, and Saraswatichandra, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
Nutan, known for her impactful roles, was married to naval Lieutenant-Commander Rajnish Bahl until her passing from breast cancer in 1991.
