Jaipur International Airport, backed by the Adani Group, has become the first airport in Rajasthan and one of the few in India to attain water-positive status. This recognition was granted by the global consulting firm Bureau Veritas following a thorough evaluation of the airport’s water management practices. As a water-positive facility, the airport conserves more water than it uses through effective recycling and replenishment methods.
During the period from April 2025 to March 2026, the airport consumed 103,387 kilo litres of water while replenishing and recycling 137,085 kilo litres. Situated in a water-scarce region, the airport has implemented various initiatives to optimize water consumption and ensure sustainability, including the installation of 18 deep aquifer recharge pits for rainwater harvesting and groundwater replenishment.
The achievement of water positivity by Jaipur International Airport is a result of its continuous efforts in this direction. The key factors contributing to this milestone are the complete recycling and reuse of treated water, a reduction in fresh water usage, and a well-established rainwater harvesting infrastructure, as stated by a spokesperson for the airport.
Being the busiest airport in Rajasthan, Jaipur International Airport served over six million passengers in FY25 and handles close to 120 air traffic movements daily. Operating across 776 acres, the airport adopts a ‘digital-first’ operational approach. Moreover, the airport has also been honored with the Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWL) certification by the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development and received ACI Level 3 accreditation from the Airports Council International in May 2025.
Jaipur International Airport is managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the Adani Group.
