Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the arrest of Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib and other members for a peaceful protest at the India AI Impact Summit. Ramesh stated that the INC strongly opposes the police action, calling it a form of political harassment. He emphasized that the arrest was unjust and aimed at diverting attention from critical issues.
Ramesh expressed his disapproval on social media, condemning the arrest as illegal and politically motivated. He accused the Prime Minister of being unsettled by recent revelations and betraying the interests of farmers. Ramesh highlighted the arrest as a tactic to distract from uncomfortable truths about the government.
The Congress leader labeled the arrest as an act of intimidation and vowed that the INC would persist in exposing the government’s falsehoods. Despite the arrest, Ramesh affirmed that the INC would continue to confront what he described as an assault on democracy in India. Meanwhile, Uday Bhanu Chib was remanded to four days of police custody by a Delhi court following his arrest in connection with the protest.
