External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, carried out by Pakistan-based terrorists, resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent people. Jaishankar and Modi reiterated India’s commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms.
On the first anniversary of the attack, PM Modi expressed solidarity with the victims’ families. He emphasized that the victims would never be forgotten and condemned all forms of terrorism. The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, was described as a tragedy that deeply impacted the nation.
The Pahalgam terror attack targeted tourists, resulting in the brutal killing of 26 individuals. The attackers, belonging to The Resistance Front linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, specifically targeted non-Muslims. The victims included tourists and a local pony ride operator who tried to protect them, with many being shot at close range in front of their families.
In response to the attack, Indian armed forces conducted ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. This operation, carried out with strategic precision, neutralized terrorist threats and reinforced India’s stance against terrorism. ‘Operation Sindoor’ showcased India’s military and strategic capabilities effectively.
To ensure a peaceful commemoration, security has been heightened in Pahalgam by the Jammu and Kashmir administration. Additional forces have been deployed, and surveillance has been increased for the event, which is expected to be attended by political leaders, civil society members, and the victims’ families.
