External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held discussions on the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and various mutual interests. Jaishankar expressed anticipation for the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with counterparts from Australia, Japan, and the US.
During the meeting, Jaishankar and Rubio reviewed the extensive aspects of their partnership, covering trade, energy, defense, security, critical minerals, AI, nuclear cooperation, people-to-people ties, counter-terrorism, and counter-narcotics efforts. They also addressed regional, global, and multilateral issues of shared concern.
Jaishankar, Rubio, along with Australian and Japanese officials, are set to participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting hosted by India. Earlier, Jaishankar outlined India’s stance on key global matters, emphasizing dialogue, diplomacy for conflict resolution, support for maritime commerce, and opposition to the weaponization of trade and resources.
India and the US reaffirmed their strategic coordination across various sectors during the delegation-level talks. Jaishankar highlighted the strong political understanding between the two nations, built on converging interests in critical areas of mutual importance. The India-US strategic partnership is underscored by shared national interests and a commitment to trusted global partnerships.
