External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Mongolia’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Battumur Enkhbayar to discuss various areas of cooperation, such as mining, energy, technology, and human resources. Jaishankar expressed pleasure in the meeting and highlighted the importance of exploring new avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
During his visit to Ulaanbaatar, Jaishankar also visited the Gandan Monastery and observed the digitization efforts of one million Buddhist manuscripts. He emphasized the significance of the monastery in strengthening the special bond between India and Mongolia, showcasing their partnership in action.
Accompanied by Mongolian officials, Jaishankar inspected the progress of the India-assisted Mongol Refinery Project, a key initiative supported by a USD 1.7 billion Line of Credit from India. He commended the dedication of the workforce and the steady advancements made in this significant friendship project.
Wrapping up his official visit to Mongolia, Jaishankar held discussions with various Mongolian leaders, including President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh and Foreign Minister Battsetseg Batmunkh. They reviewed the ongoing cooperation in development projects, education, culture, and security, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Mongolia.
