External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged in bilateral discussions with foreign counterparts from various countries during the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi. Jaishankar and Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan reviewed the progress of their nations’ Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on outcomes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Malaysia.
In another meeting, Jaishankar and Ugandan Foreign Minister Odongo Jeje Abubakhar explored ways to enhance cooperation in sectors like food and health security, technology, and business ties. The ministers discussed strengthening existing collaborations and leveraging the Indian community and businesses for mutual benefit.
Additionally, Jaishankar met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla to assess bilateral cooperation in health, development initiatives, and capacity building. The leaders also exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate regular diplomatic consultations between India and Cuba.
Furthermore, Jaishankar held talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss the evolving situation in West Asia and its broader implications, alongside mutual bilateral interests. Jaishankar appreciated Araghchi’s participation in the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting hosted by India in 2026.
