External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held discussions with Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles regarding regional developments, Indo-Pacific issues, and the advancement of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. The meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation in various areas.
During the India-Australia Defence Ministers’ Dialogue in New Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Richard Marles explored avenues to boost defense collaboration and reviewed the progress made in the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing strategic trust and promoting peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

The visit of Richard Marles to India follows the inaugural Dialogue held in Australia in October 2025, signifying the growing momentum in the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Ministry of Defence emphasized Australia’s significance as a key partner in India’s vision for a free, open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
