External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani in Manama to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments. Jaishankar praised Bahrain for safeguarding the well-being of the Indian community in the country. This meeting marked the second stop of Jaishankar’s six-nation tour, following engagements in Qatar.
Jaishankar, after concluding his visit to Doha, where he met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Indian community representatives, expressed gratitude for Bahrain’s support to the Indian community. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also recently had a conversation with Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, condemning attacks on Bahrain and appreciating the country’s backing of the Indian community.
India and Bahrain enjoy strong bilateral ties encompassing political, economic, and cultural aspects, with a significant Indian population in Bahrain contributing to the close relationship. The conversation between Modi and the Bahrain King occurred amid escalating tensions in West Asia following US-Israel strikes on Iran, leading to retaliatory actions and regional instability.
