External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg during the Raisina Dialogue 2026 in New Delhi. Jaishankar appreciated Borg’s insights on the maritime industry following their meeting. Borg had arrived in New Delhi earlier to participate in the 11th Raisina Dialogue.
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, welcomed Ian Borg to India for the dialogue. India and Malta share friendly relations with strong people-to-people ties. The bilateral relationship includes several visits between the two countries, with India being among the first to recognize Malta’s independence in 1964.
The Raisina Dialogue, organized by the Observer Research Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, brings together global leaders to discuss critical international issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event, with Finland President Alexander Stubb as the Chief Guest. The 2026 edition’s theme is ‘Saṁskara – Assertion, Accommodation, Advancement,’ focusing on various global challenges and opportunities.
