External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar engaged with the Foreign Ministers of Nepal and Bhutan during the 9th Indian Ocean Conference in Mauritius. Jaishankar highlighted the progressing partnership with Bhutan, emphasizing the ongoing growth between the two nations.
In a separate meeting, Jaishankar interacted with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, aiming to enhance bilateral cooperation across various sectors. This encounter marked the first discussion between the ministers since Khanal assumed office in March.
During the discussions, both Jaishankar and Khanal explored avenues to strengthen ties and collaborate further on mutual interests. The leaders expressed their shared commitment to bolstering the longstanding relationship between Nepal and India.
EAM Jaishankar’s visit to Mauritius included meetings with other counterparts, such as Seychelles Foreign Minister Barry Faure. He reiterated India’s support for Seychelles in addressing economic challenges and conveyed greetings from Indian leadership to Mauritius President Dharambeer Gokhool.
Reflecting on the warm friendship between nations, Jaishankar affirmed the dedication to advancing partnerships with both Mauritius and Seychelles. He also acknowledged the efforts of former Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth in fostering bilateral relations.
