Jaishankar has arrived in New York for a three-day official visit to the United States, focusing on cooperation in critical minerals and meetings with senior officials from the Trump administration. Jaishankar is set to travel to Washington during the visit, attending the Critical Minerals Ministerial led by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with US Vice President J.D. Vance expected to speak at the conference.
The visit, spanning from February 2 to February 4, will emphasize supply chain resilience, clean energy transitions, and strategic cooperation in the critical minerals sector. These materials are crucial for advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies. Jaishankar is also expected to have a bilateral meeting with Rubio and participate in the ministerial discussions.
India and the United States have been enhancing their engagement on economic security matters, with critical minerals playing a central role in their discussions. Both countries view these minerals as essential for achieving clean energy objectives and sustaining long-term industrial growth. The US State Department highlighted the importance of the upcoming gathering in advancing efforts to strengthen and diversify critical minerals supply chains.
