Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Paatil is set to kick off the World Water Day Conclave 2026 in New Delhi on March 23. The conclave, themed “Industry for Water,” will focus on promoting sustainable water management and efficient industrial water use. It aims to engage policymakers, industry leaders, academia, startups, MSMEs, and young innovators in developing technology-driven solutions for water challenges.
The event will emphasize the role of industries in enhancing water-use efficiency, recycling, and innovation. It aims to shift industries towards becoming responsible water stewards by adopting sustainable practices. Over 700 delegates from various sectors are expected to participate in the conclave, which will also honor the winners of the Jal Shakti Hackathon for their impactful water sector solutions.
State governments will play a significant role in the conclave, particularly in the session focused on national water census reports. The event will mark the release of key reports like the 7th Minor Irrigation Census, 2nd Census of Water Bodies, and others. It will also recognize leading states and industry associations, along with launching a Compendium of Good Practices on Industrial Water Use Efficiency to showcase recycling and conservation best practices.
The conclave will feature thematic sessions on sludge management, industry-led water efficiency, glacier systems, and climate resilience. Special attention will be given to Himalayan glaciers as crucial water sources and the utilization of water census data for policy planning and decision-making.
