The Jal Shakti Ministry has taken a significant step by signing two MoUs with Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand to enhance piped water supply to households. These agreements aim to strengthen drinking water services in collaboration with the respective state governments. In Arunachal Pradesh, the MoU with the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation is set to revolutionize access to safe and sustainable drinking water in remote areas.
The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, highlighted the positive impact of Prime Minister Modi’s Har Ghar Jal campaign on rural life, especially for women. This deal is expected to improve infrastructure, empower women, and promote ‘Water Security through public participation’ in the region. Similarly, the MoU with Jharkhand is anticipated to bring about a transformation in piped water supply systems across backward and tribal areas of the state.
The collaboration between the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Jharkhand government is poised to elevate the quality of drinking water services in rural and tribal regions. This partnership emphasizes a holistic approach beyond just laying pipelines, focusing on enhancing living standards, preventing waterborne diseases, and easing the burden of water collection, particularly for women. The Jal Jeevan Mission has already made a significant impact by providing tap water to over 15 crore families in rural India, marking a milestone achievement during the Modi government’s tenure.
