Chairman of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s Markazi Taleemi Board, Professor Salim Engineer, criticized the irregularities in the recently canceled NEET UG 2026 exam. He urged for significant reforms to ensure a secure examination process. Professor Engineer blamed the government and the National Testing Agency for compromising the integrity of the exam, affecting the aspirations of numerous medical students.
Professor Salim Engineer expressed strong disapproval of the irregularities in the NEET UG 2026 exam, leading to its cancellation. Emphasizing the competitive nature of the NEET exam, taken by over two million students annually, he demanded transparency in the investigation and strict actions against those involved in malpractice. He also recommended systemic changes to enhance exam security.
Calling for the implementation of recommendations by a High-Level Committee of Experts chaired by former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Professor Engineer highlighted the need for a secure and transparent examination system. He raised concerns about the emergence of a ‘guess paper’ with questions similar to the actual exam, indicating a compromise in the exam’s fairness. The circulation of such papers through illicit channels pointed to organized malpractice.
Professor Salim Engineer criticized the government and the NTA for the NEET UG 2026 exam failure, impacting the future of many aspirants. He supported the decision to cancel the exam and involve the CBI, stressing the seriousness of the lapses. While acknowledging the necessity of an investigation, he noted the distress caused to students and families. Professor Engineer called for accountability at all levels and urged for a prompt and impartial probe to establish the truth.
