Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Arshad Madani has criticized the Congress party, stating that its failure to decisively counter communal forces has brought the country to the “brink of destruction.” Madani emphasized that timely action post the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi could have altered India’s course.
Madani condemned the Congress party for its lenient stance towards religiously driven politics during its governance, attributing significant harm to the nation and its Constitution. He highlighted the current challenges as a result of not sincerely implementing constitutional principles.
The Jamiat chief lamented that Congress leaders’ soft approach towards religiously motivated politics allowed communal forces to flourish unchecked. He asserted that if communalism had been tackled effectively earlier, the country could have been spared from turmoil and division.
Madani underscored the importance of historical assurances made before independence, emphasizing the need for a secular Constitution and religious freedom for all minorities. He criticized the Congress for deviating from these commitments post-independence, leading to the unchecked growth of communalism.
The Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind leader pointed out that the Congress party missed crucial opportunities to curb communalism by not enacting stringent laws against it. He argued that had the Congress taken a firm stand against communalism earlier, the country’s current challenges could have been averted.
