Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind National President, Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, created a stir by stating that in 1803, during colonial rule, a call for ‘Jihad’ was made for the nation’s freedom. Addressing a gathering in Kaliyar, Uttarakhand, Maulana Madani emphasized the importance of Muslims waging Jihad to break free from slavery and contribute to the nation’s liberation. He highlighted the role of Muslims and mosques in India’s Independence struggle and criticized the current government for allegedly demolishing religious sites.
Maulana Madani stressed that Muslims have played a significant role in India’s progress and independence. He expressed concern over the demolition of mosques and madrasas, as well as the rise in mob lynching incidents targeting Muslims. Emphasizing the need for love and harmony in the country, he urged people to reject hatred in politics and embrace a culture of affection for national unity. Maulana Madani called for Muslims to demonstrate love and loyalty towards all citizens as a true measure of patriotism.
He recounted how the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had provided aid to both Hindus and Muslims during crises like floods in West Bengal, yet lamented the current situation where Muslim homes are being demolished and madrasas shut down.
