Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has declared an ex gratia relief of Rs 6 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic events, the Chief Minister emphasized that no amount of financial aid can fully compensate for the losses suffered by the affected families. The relief package includes Rs 4 lakh from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and an additional Rs 2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

Following a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister directed prompt relief and rehabilitation efforts for the affected families in Rajouri and Poonch. He stressed the urgent need for coordinated actions by all relevant departments to ensure that essential services are restored and relief measures are expedited in the affected regions. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also assessed the flood situation in various districts of the Union Territory, instructing officials to swiftly provide relief and restore infrastructure in the affected areas.

L-G Manoj Sinha expressed his condolences for the loss of lives in Doda due to heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides. Emergency response teams, including NDRF, SDRF, J&K Police, and the Army, are actively engaged in vulnerable areas. Significant roads in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, and Udhampur have been reopened, and efforts to reinstate water supplies are ongoing. Field teams have been deployed to assess the damage to houses and public infrastructure in the affected regions.
