Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat recently led a security review for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha and the Amarnath Yatra 2026. The meeting, held at the Police Control Room Kashmir, involved senior officers from various security agencies, emphasizing peaceful Eid celebrations and safe pilgrimage. Security measures, crowd management, and surveillance were highlighted as crucial aspects to ensure a secure environment during the festive occasions.
The DGP stressed the importance of comprehensive security arrangements, including crowd management at mosques and key congregation areas. Field officers were directed to enhance surveillance, conduct inspections at vulnerable spots, and intensify patrolling to address security concerns effectively. The meeting also focused on logistical arrangements and security preparedness for the smooth conduct of the Amarnath Yatra 2026.
Officers from different security forces emphasized the need for seamless coordination and synergy among all agencies involved. The meeting discussed administrative and logistical arrangements for incoming CAPF companies, with directives issued for their smooth induction and efficient deployment. Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and proactive security strategies to counter potential threats were underscored by the DGP.
The DGP highlighted the importance of heightened vigilance to safeguard pilgrims and maintain a secure environment throughout the yatra period. Efforts aimed at dismantling the terror ecosystem and strengthening area domination along pilgrimage routes were instructed. The deployment of Anti-Sabotage teams and advanced surveillance systems for threat detection and response capabilities was also emphasized.
