Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha encouraged teachers and students to adjust to the evolving global educational landscape. He inaugurated the new school building of Swami Pranavanand Vidyamandir in Jammu’s Nagrota, operated by the Bharat Sevashram Sangh. The school, offering education from pre-primary to Class 8 since 2014 under ‘Har Ghar Shiksha,’ caters to over half of its students from underprivileged backgrounds.
L-G Sinha emphasized that the new higher secondary building and skill infrastructure will provide quality education to disadvantaged students. He highlighted the importance of preparing students for the changing global scenario and positioning India as a leading knowledge economy. Sinha stressed the need for cultural awareness, communication skills, and holistic education that includes art, sports, and skills alongside academics.
Addressing the gathering, the L-G underscored the significance of nurturing human capacities like creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration in students. He pointed out the necessity for continuous learning and upskilling in today’s rapidly changing world driven by AI and automation. Sinha also highlighted the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) as a crucial tool to meet national needs and foster economic growth.
The initiative at Swami Pranavanand Vidyamandir is supported by Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, and other donors. The event was attended by various dignitaries including Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Legislative Assembly Devyani Rana, and former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, among others.
