The Jammu and Kashmir Police announced on Monday that they have seized movable and immovable assets valued at Rs 1.20 crore from a drug peddler in Udhampur district. The police, in a statement, mentioned that properties worth around Rs 1.20 crore were confiscated under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act in connection with a case registered at Police Station Rehambal. These assets belong to Wahid Maqbool Mir, son of Mohd. Maqbool Mir, residing in Sumbal, Bandipora district. The attached properties include a double-storey residential house and two tipper vehicles. Investigations revealed that the accused had acquired these assets through earnings from drug trafficking. The competent authority has issued an attachment order, and legal proceedings under the NDPS Act are in progress. Udhampur Police has now attached properties worth Rs 18.85 crore this year, showcasing their ongoing efforts against drug offenders. The police, along with security forces, are actively conducting operations to combat drug smuggling, peddling, and illegal financial activities in the region. Authorities believe that funds from these illegal activities are used to fuel terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
