The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, requesting assistance in relocating Indian students from Iran to safer places. The security situation in Iran has been deteriorating due to repeated airstrikes and escalating tensions, causing fear and distress among students. Many educational institutions in the affected areas have advised students to leave as a precautionary measure amid growing instability.
JKSA emphasized the urgent need for the Indian government to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Tehran to ensure the safe relocation of students until a formal evacuation operation is initiated. With airspace disruptions and limited mobility, students are facing challenges in securing safe passage or making alternative travel arrangements. There are over 1,200 Kashmiri students, along with doctors and engineers, currently studying in Iran.
In Kashmir Valley, pro-Iran protests persisted for a second day as authorities imposed restrictions on public and vehicular movement. Internet speed was reduced to prevent the dissemination of provocative content on social media by anti-national elements.
