Jana Sena Party has selected Lingamaneni Ramesh as its nominee for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. Party President and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan endorsed Ramesh’s candidacy, who has been associated with Jana Sena and Pawan Kalyan since 2015. Ramesh will officially file his nomination on Saturday, as confirmed by Jana Sena in a statement.
Ramesh was drawn to Pawan Kalyan’s vision of fostering state development through social harmony and proper social engineering, as stated in the announcement. The party emphasized that their selection for nominated positions prioritizes individuals who remained loyal to the party ideology despite setbacks in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Pawan Kalyan’s decision-making for the Rajya Sabha candidate aligns with this principle.
Expressing gratitude, Ramesh thanked Pawan Kalyan for the nomination and acknowledged the support extended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on behalf of the TDP-led alliance. He views this opportunity not just as a position but as a significant responsibility entrusted by Pawan Kalyan. Ramesh pledged to work in alignment with the public’s expectations and for the state’s progress, aiming to amplify the common citizen’s voice in the Rajya Sabha.
Jana Sena’s choice of Ramesh as their candidate followed an agreement within the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners. Out of the four Rajya Sabha seats up for election on June 18, the TDP will contest three seats, reserving the fourth for Jana Sena. The NDA is poised to secure all four seats based on its substantial majority in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, with the TDP holding 135 seats, supported by Jana Sena and BJP with 21 and 8 seats respectively, while the YSR Congress Party has 11 seats.
