Jannik Sinner secured a spot in the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Australian Open by defeating Luciano Darderi 6-1, 6-3, 7-6(2) in Melbourne. The No. 2-ranked player showcased his dominance with precise play, bouncing back from previous struggles with cramps.

Sinner, aiming for a third consecutive Australian Open title, expressed relief at closing the match in three sets. His next challenge will be against American eighth seed Ben Shelton. Meanwhile, fifth-seeded Lorenzo Musetti also advanced to the quarterfinals with a convincing win over Taylor Fritz.

In the women’s singles draw, Wang Xinyu fought bravely but succumbed to American fourth seed Amanda Anisimova. Anisimova, seeking her first major title, will face compatriot Jessica Pegula in the next round. Additionally, second seed Iga Swiatek progressed to the quarterfinals after defeating Maddison Inglis.
