Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is set to visit New Delhi from July 1-3 to participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit. This visit marks her first official trip to India since taking office. The summit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and address regional and global issues of mutual concern, as per the Ministry of External Affairs.
During the previous India-Japan Annual Summit in August 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tokyo. Both countries are committed to enhancing their Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Takaichi recently met at the G7 Summit in France, affirming their intent to deepen ties, particularly in trade and investment sectors.
The India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership plays a crucial role in promoting peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Both nations are working together on various initiatives encompassing security, economy, investment, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. The joint efforts aim to realize a strong and prosperous Indo-Pacific under the Free and Open Indo-Pacific framework.
