Artificial intelligence (AI) is set to enhance India’s technology services industry, bringing forth new prospects in enterprise modernization, data management, cybersecurity, and AI governance, as per Nasscom. The organization emphasizes that AI’s impact should not be limited to automation but also encompass advancements in various sectors.
The adoption of AI is predicted to enhance efficiency, automate routine tasks, and spur the need for application modernization, data readiness, cybersecurity measures, and industry-specific digital solutions. A quarter of technology service firms have transitioned AI projects from experimental phases to operational stages.
Currently, India’s tech services domain yields an estimated $10-12 billion from AI services, with over 2 million professionals proficient in AI and 100,000 to 200,000 skilled in advanced AI capabilities. The sector is witnessing a surge in agentic AI platforms, with 85% of service providers equipped to facilitate large-scale AI integration for enterprises.
Nasscom’s US CEO Forum Chair, Ravi Kumar S, anticipates the next AI phase to be fueled by enterprises aiming to leverage AI for business gains through secure deployment, workflow enhancements, governance, and change management. Meanwhile, Nasscom President Rajesh Nambiar affirms that Indian tech companies are adept at guiding global enterprises through technological shifts and are well-prepared to aid in responsible AI deployment and expansion.
Furthermore, Nasscom projects that Agentic AI could unlock an additional $300-400 billion in potential spending for the global tech services sector by 2030, focusing on AI-ready data, legacy system upgrades, AI operations, cybersecurity, governance, and intelligent workflows.
