JD(U) MLA Anant Singh met Union Panchayati Raj Minister and party MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, in Patna. The leaders discussed the political scenario in Bihar, particularly following Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha election. Nitish Kumar must decide by March 30 whether to resign from his Member of the Legislative Council position to comply with constitutional requirements.
The meeting, held at Lalan Singh’s residence, is seen as significant amidst Bihar’s current political landscape. Anant Singh, a prominent MLA from Mokama, was recently granted conditional bail in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. Arrested on November 1, 2025, during the Bihar Assembly election campaign, he spent about four months in jail before being released on March 23 by the Patna High Court.
Justice Rudra Prakash Mishra’s single-judge bench imposed strict conditions on Anant Singh’s bail, warning against any attempt to influence witnesses or hinder the investigation. Anant Singh, accused in Dularchand Yadav’s murder, was found not conclusively present at the crime scene, as per the police investigation. The court’s decision to grant bail was influenced by the post-mortem report revealing severe injuries consistent with a physical assault and vehicular impact.
