Jeev Milkha Singh, initially tied 12th, secured a spot at the ISPS HANDA Senior Open despite a challenging round of 8-over 78 at Gleneagles Hotel. Facing tough conditions, he managed to make the cut after his strong performance in the first round. Jyoti Randhawa also advanced, holding the same 5-over score at T-69th position.
The competition saw difficult conditions with no player going bogey-free, as wind intensified the already firm and fast course. Cameron Percy emerged as the frontrunner, leading by three shots after a remarkable back nine of 33 in adverse weather. Percy’s two-under 68 placed him at nine under par, extending his lead over American Jerry Kelly by three strokes.
Despite early setbacks, Percy’s solid play, including a crucial chip-in on the 13th hole, propelled him to the top of the leaderboard. The 52-year-old, yet to secure a senior win since turning 50 in May 2024, displayed resilience and skill in navigating the challenging course. Notable contenders like Ernie Els, Henrik Stenson, and Markus Brier trailed behind Percy.
Frenchman Lionel Alexandre and American Matt Gogel stood at three under par, leading a group of players just below par. With only 16 players under par, the competition remained intense, showcasing the skill and determination of the participants.
