India’s golf icon Jeev Milkha Singh secured victory at the IGPL Invitational Sri Lanka, marking the end of the Indian Golf Premier League’s inaugural season. Despite not winning a professional event since 2012, Jeev displayed exceptional skills on the Royal Colombo Golf Course, outplaying both young and seasoned competitors.
Following a modest performance on the second day, Jeev dedicated significant time to practice on the putting green, which proved beneficial as he showcased remarkable putting precision alongside excellent iron play. With an impressive streak of birdies, including five in a row and seven within nine holes, Jeev finished with a 6-under 65, surpassing Aryan Roopa Anand by one shot.
As Jeev celebrated his first IGPL title, Pukhraj Singh Gill clinched the IGPL Order of Merit, narrowly edging out Aman Raj and Gaganjeet Bhullar. The season, comprising 11 events with a substantial prize purse, concluded with Pukhraj securing the top position by a slim margin.
Expressing deep emotions, Jeev reflected on the sentimental significance of his victory in Sri Lanka, where his parents’ love story began. Overwhelmed by the win and the memories it evoked, Jeev dedicated his success to his late parents, emphasizing the personal importance of the triumph.
Jeev’s remarkable performance garnered praise not only for his exceptional golfing skills but also for his sportsmanship and dedication to the game. The IGPL CEO, Uttam Singh Mundy, commended Jeev’s victory as a testament to his enduring legacy in the sport, inspiring both seasoned players and aspiring talents alike.
