Jemimah Rodrigues Leads Delhi Capitals in Women’s Premier League Opener

Jemimah Rodrigues, in her debut as Delhi Capitals skipper, chose to bowl after winning the toss against Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League at DY Patil Stadium. She introduced Laura Wolvaardt, Chinelle Henry, Marizanne Kapp, and Lizelle Lee as the overseas players, with pacer Nandini Sharma making her tournament debut.

Expressing her excitement, Jemimah mentioned the significance of DY Patil Stadium for her, having memorable cricket moments there. She highlighted the support of her team, stating that the responsibility of captaincy brings out her best performance and that the team’s energy is refreshing.

Mumbai Indians, aiming for a comeback after a previous defeat, introduced Triveni Vasistha for her WPL debut, replacing Saika Ishaque. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed the team’s readiness to learn from the previous game and adapt to the pitch conditions for a better performance.

The playing XIs for the match included key players from both teams, with Delhi Capitals fielding Shafali Verma, while Mumbai Indians had notable players like Harmanpreet Kaur and Amelia Kerr in their lineup.
