Skipper Jemimah Rodrigues scored 57 runs off 37 balls, guiding Delhi Capitals to a strong total of 203/4 in their 20 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2026 Women’s Premier League final at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara. Delhi Capitals set a record for the highest total in a WPL final and in Vadodara. Following early contributions from Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma, Jemimah’s innings stood out for her precise timing and ability to find boundaries effortlessly.
Laura Wolvaardt added a valuable 44 off 25 balls, accelerating towards the end, while Chinelle Henry’s quick 35 off 15 balls propelled Delhi past the 200-run mark. Chinelle’s aggressive batting in the final overs, where Delhi scored 55 runs in four overs, positioned them strongly for their first WPL title. Despite Lauren Bell’s economical bowling for RCB, the rest of the attack struggled to contain Delhi’s scoring rate, with Chinelle’s late onslaught sealing the victory for Delhi.
Delhi Capitals faced a slow start, managing only nine runs in the initial three overs. Lizelle then took charge, hitting two sixes off Sayali Satghare, setting the tone for Delhi’s impressive batting display. Shafali Verma contributed with quick boundaries before falling for 20. Lizelle continued her attack, but was dismissed for 37 by Nadine de Klerk. Jemimah’s fluent innings, complemented by Laura’s stability, kept the scoreboard ticking for Delhi.
In a crucial 12th over, Jemimah displayed her range of shots, including cover drives and sweeps, before reaching her fifty in the 15th over. Despite her dismissal for 57, Laura and Chinelle’s aggressive batting in the death overs extended Delhi’s total. Chinelle’s onslaught in the 18th over, where she scored 24 runs off Nadine de Klerk, and the final over, where Laura was run out, set a challenging target for RCB to chase.
