The Jharkhand government revealed various initiatives in education, health, tourism, infrastructure, and women’s empowerment in its 2026-27 Budget. Plans include establishing 100 new CM Schools of Excellence offering CBSE-based education, with 80 already operational. Additionally, a model school for martyrs’ dependents will be set up.
In higher education, the proposal includes establishing Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University and opening five new girls’ residential schools. A new scheme, “Mahila Kisan Khushali Yojana,” with a Rs 25 crore allocation, aims to support women farmers through integrated farming practices and modern technology.
The Budget also features a Gender Budget of Rs 34,211.27 crore covering 232 schemes. Noteworthy healthcare expansions are planned, including upgrading Sadar Hospitals into medical colleges, adding 220 MBBS seats, and increasing PG seats. The state aims to open 750 “Abua Dispensaries” for affordable medicines.
To enhance air connectivity, agreements have been made to expand airports, including Birsa Munda Airport. Tourism infrastructure projects like glass bridges, ropeways, skywalks, and dams are also part of the Budget. The government emphasizes balancing social welfare and infrastructure for long-term human development and economic growth.
